Point cloud is the most raw data produced from a 3D Scan. Each datapoint (dot) in the point cloud is a unique coordinate.
Because we are talking 3D, that coordinate point has an X-coordinate (2D), Y-coordinate (2D) and Z-coordinate which gives it the third dimension (3D).
